How to Measure AI Visibility

Let's GEO Team

You can't improve what you can't measure. AI visibility is no different. This module introduces the four key metrics that Let's GEO uses to quantify how your brand appears in AI-generated answers — and how to interpret them.

GEO Score: Your AI Visibility at a Glance

The GEO Score is a composite metric from 0 to 100 that represents your overall visibility across major AI platforms. It combines data from multiple LLMs — including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude — into a single, actionable number.

  • 0–25 (Critical): Your brand is essentially invisible to AI. LLMs rarely or never mention you in relevant contexts.
  • 26–50 (Low): Some presence, but inconsistent. You may appear for very specific queries but are missing from most conversations.
  • 51–75 (Growing):Solid foundation. Your brand appears in several relevant contexts, but there's room to expand coverage and consistency.
  • 76–100 (Visible): Strong AI presence. Your brand is regularly cited and recommended across multiple LLMs and prompt categories.

Share of AI Voice

Share of AI Voice measures what percentage of AI-generated answers in your category mention your brand compared to competitors. Think of it as market share, but for AI recommendations.

For example, if there are 100 relevant prompts in your category and your brand is mentioned in 35 of those answers while your main competitor appears in 50, your Share of AI Voice is 35% vs. their 50%.

This metric is particularly valuable for competitive analysis and tracking progress over time. A growing Share of AI Voice means your GEO strategy is working.

Prompt Intelligence

Prompt Intelligence reveals which user questions trigger mentions of your brand — and which ones trigger mentions of your competitors instead. It answers questions like:

  • Which prompts already mention my brand?
  • Which prompts mention my competitors but not me?
  • What types of questions drive the most AI recommendations in my category?
  • Are there high-value prompts where no brand is being recommended?

Prompt Intelligence helps you prioritize your content strategy by focusing on the questions that matter most to your target audience.

Citation Analysis

When an LLM recommends your brand, it often cites specific sources. Citation Analysis tracks which sources LLMs use when mentioning your brand, including:

  • Your own website pages (which ones get cited most?)
  • Third-party articles and reviews
  • Industry publications and directories
  • Social media profiles and posts

Understanding your citation profile helps you identify which content assets are driving your AI visibility — and where gaps exist that need to be filled.

Putting It All Together

Each metric tells a different part of the story. The GEO Score gives you the big picture. Share of AI Voice shows your competitive position. Prompt Intelligence reveals opportunities. Citation Analysis tells you what's working and what needs attention.

Together, they form a complete framework for understanding and improving your AI visibility. The next module will show you how to act on these insights and optimize your content for LLMs.
